Terramaster is preparing for the launch of the D1 SSD PlusA portable high-speed SSD housing that claims to deliver some of the fastest writing speeds that are seen in consumer hardware.
In combination with a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB and tested for one Apple M4 Pro Mac Mini, the company says that the D1 has reached writing speeds of 3,498 MB/s and read speeds of 3,641 MB/s.
“Transfer 3GB files in ~ 1 second”, the company notes, thanks to a USB4 interface that is capable of a bandwidth of 40 Gbps.
Built for speed, but what about consistency?
The transfer speed is impressive on paper, but the performance will still depend on work flows from the real world, especially outside tightly controlled benchmarks.
The D1 SSD Plus uses a PCIE M.2 2280 NVME interface and supports SSDs up to 8 TB. The housing is fanless and relies on a fully sealed aluminum alloy that is said to offer three times the usual heat disease area.
Terramaster promises silent, stable performance, even under full load, but without active cooling, thermal threshold during long -term operations can still be a factor to consider, especially in mobile processing environments.
The device supports Thunderbolt 5/4/3 and USB standards ranging from 4.0 to 3.0.
It aims to work seamlessly in macOS and Windows systems, although Terramaster warns that “some Windows pcs with Thunderbolt 3 -interfaces may have incomplete support for the USB4 protocol”, which may lead to detection problems.
This External SSD Comes with built -in guarantees against voltages, electrostatic discharge and short circuit.
It also supports the TDAS app from Terramaster for mobile back -up and TPC -Back -up for Windows -PCs, both of which offer incremental and differential back -up options.
