Technology Startup Incubator Idealab has confirmed that a cyber attack has suffered in which the sensitive business files has lost.
After an extensive research that lasted almost a year, the organization confirmed the news, which was noted in a data letter that was previously sent to affected persons, the attack probably took place on October 4, 2024, when cyber criminals had access to its network and sensitive information stable about current and former employees, current and former support servants and their dependent maintenance.
We do not know exactly how many people are influenced by this attack, or what the nature of the data is. Idealab just said that the attackers took the names of people, in combination with “variable data”.
Smuggle
Yet it offers affected individuals for free Identity theft protection Services via IDX, including 24 months of credit and dark web monitoring, a policy for the reimbursement of identity fraud loss of $ 1 million and fully managed recovery services for identity theft.
At the same time, the media reported that A ransomware Operation known as Hunters International took the responsibility for the attack and added the stolen data to the leksite, probably after a failed extortion attempt.
Allegedly the leaked archive was 262.8 GB in size and contained 137,000 files. Interestingly enough, Hunters International announced earlier today that it was dissolved, apologized for the inconvenience and shared the decoding keys for all his victims. It is safe to assume that iDEALAB is also included in this list.
The motive behind the closure remains in the domain of speculation, with several security outfits that believed that the group was just rebranding to hide his traces of law enforcement and to break ties with previous affiliated companies.
Researchers from the recorded future, group IB and many others have pointed out that Hunters International recently launched a parallel operation called World Leks, who does not use encryptors and only focuses on extortion.
