Do you have problems with the lock screen of your pixel phone after an upgrade to Android 16? You are not the only one

- Some pixel owners report problems with Android 16 Lockscreen
- They say the screen can be laggy and does not respond
- So far, Google has not given official advice on the issue
The official Android 16 Rollout started last month, with the Best pixel phones First in line before the update but it seems that the software causes final screen problems for a considerable number of pixel owners.
Various problems have been reported, such as per 9to5Google. These include the locking screen that does not wake up when it is tapped, and do not respond to the push of the on / off button, as well as fingerprint -ID problems and extreme variations in brightness.
“I have experienced an important and frustrating delay when I try to wake my phone,” a user writes down The Pixel Phone Help Forums. “I often have to press several times before the phone finally responds. This problem occurs one or twice a day.”
For that specific user there was a solution: start up in safe mode (See here) and then normally restart. If you experience something similar, that fix is worth trying – but even with a possible solution available, it is not something that Google will gladly see.
Wake up
“Has anyone else noticed problems where the screen does not wake up when tapping the screen or trying to use Lift to wake up?” requests another user Reddit. “Also pressing the on / off button has a long delay to wake the screen.”
That user reports that their problems are with a Pixel 9 Pro XLAnd that the problem has been recorded with Google. If you are experiencing problems with Android 16, The Google Help Portal Is a good starting point to get some help.
So far, Google has not officially said anything about the problems – perhaps because the reported bugs are so numerous and so varied. The types of problems that are mentioned are the kind that can be solved well with a future Android 16 software update.
It is difficult to assess how widespread these problems are at the moment – they certainly influence some pixel users, but not all pixel users. Even if only a small number of people are hit, it is disappointing that we still see bugs after a few months.
