Reddit user HiveJiveLive shared the skin care saving tip in a post.

“I use medical tape while I sleep on [my] “Forehead, eyes, and nasolabial folds,” she said.

She explained that the tape prevents wrinkles in several ways and reduces the visibility of existing imperfections.

“It makes a difference! It does three things, I think: it helps retain moisture, so it gives a plumping effect; it prevents unconscious muscle use, so wrinkles are reduced; and it pushes excess fluid out,” she said.

“Or at least it prevents it from building up, because the tape forms a stronger barrier than the delicate skin.”

She explained that she initially started with silicone patches and they worked well, but she felt like the patches were clogging her skin.

“Eventually [it] “It felt like my skin couldn’t breathe, and I have to be careful with that because of underlying medical conditions,” she said.

“My sister uses Botox, and I swear my tape is almost as effective.”

She said the tape gave her an advantage that her sister doesn’t have.

“I still have facial mobility, and she doesn’t,” she joked.

To apply the tape, she first pulled her skin taut before putting the tape on.

“I don’t pull too hard, just to smooth out any creases that I’m trying to fight,” she said.

“I also do this over all my products/slugging. I find it holds them better and the tape is easier to remove with very little residue.

“Then I just wash my face and do my morning routine. I do it on days when I’m home too. I don’t think it hurts, right?”

She didn’t specify what brand of tape she used, but skin care enthusiasts can buy medical tape for $4 on Amazon.

Those who bought the tape for anti-aging purposes responded enthusiastically.

“I bought this to use with my castor oil and frankincense oil for my face; the tape works on the oils to prevent wrinkles. Will buy again,” said one reviewer.

“I use this to tape my face and so far I’m really liking it!” said another.

“I found an online tutorial and saw definite results when I taped my face every night.”

“I do face taping at night and it works great with my oil! It’s also great to use when there’s something on the body that needs to be taped! Like the soles of your feet! Works great,” a third agreed.
