Avatar 3 title released

The title of the third Avatar film was announced at D23. The film is called Avatar: Fire and Ash and is scheduled for release on December 19, 2025. It will be the latest sequel to filmmaker James Cameron’s 3D blockbuster Avatar, which was released in 2009. The second Avatar film was released in 2022 and was called Avatar: The Way of Water. (CNET critic Richard Trenholm called it “a decent sci-fi blockbuster.”)

We don’t know much about the plot of Avatar: Fire and Ash, but in 2022, young actor Jack Champion began told The Hollywood Reporter that the third film “shocked” him and that it “took a sharp left turn.”

Frozen 3 and Frozen: The Musical news

Frozen fans just can’t let it go, and neither can Disney. While we don’t know much about Frozen 3, the third film in the series, Disney Animation Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Lee said the film is scheduled for release in November 2027, with another film in the series following. Concept art was revealed, showing royal sisters Elsa and Anna on horseback.

The musical version of Frozen premiered on Broadway in 2018. But Frozen fans who can’t see it live on stage will be able to watch it on the Disney Plus streaming service in 2025. Like Hamilton before it, a live version of Frozen, starring Samantha Barks as Elsa, was filmed onstage for the service.

Vaiana 2

In 2016, Moana introduced viewers to Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho), the brave daughter of an island chieftain who saves her people with a little help from the legendary demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson). In the sequel, Moana 2, hitting theaters on November 27, she must once again venture into the dangerous waters for an oceanic adventure. Disney debuted the first trailer for Moana 2 during D23.

In addition to Moana 2, a live-action version of the first film is scheduled for release in 2026. The film was originally set to be a TV series on Disney Plus, but was reworked into a theatrical sequel. It will be interesting to see if that original episodic style makes it back into the film, or if we get to see it at all.

Spin-off show of Inside Out

Inside Out debuted in 2015, introducing viewers to the vivid emotions, including Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler) and Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith), that live inside the mind of young Riley. New emotions, including teenage trauma-giver Anxiety (voiced by Maya Hawke), appeared in the 2024 sequel.

Now, the film series is spinning off a TV series called Dream Productions that will be based in the universe of Riley’s mind. It’s coming to Disney Plus in 2025. We’re guessing the highly paid movie stars who voice the characters in the films won’t be appearing for the show, but the cast hasn’t been announced yet. The show is set between the two films, when Riley is about 12 and already living in San Francisco but not yet in high school.

In the clip shown, Judy and Nick are reunited as they attempt to solve another case set among the sea creatures of Zootopia in an area called Marsh Market.

Unbelievable 3

Fans of the animated superhero family introduced in 2004’s The Incredibles and reintroduced in 2018’s Incredibles 2, get ready. A third installment in the franchise, Incredibles 3, is on the way. D23 hasn’t revealed any plot or release date information, but Brad Bird, who directed the first two, will be back to direct the third installment.

The Mandalorian & Grogu

Who doesn’t love Baby Yoda (real name: Grogu) and father figure The Mandalorian (played by Pedro Pascal)? If you love them in The Mandalorian series on Disney Plus, then you might (eventually) get tickets to their upcoming feature film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, coming out on May 22, 2026.

Pascal is back as The Mandalorian/Din Djarin and Baby Yoda/Grogu is back as the world’s cutest space doll. Gizmodo reports that the D23 footage, including voiceover footage of Djarin calling Grogu his “new apprentice,” features plenty of action, plus the return of the Razor Crest ship and an appearance from Star Wars Rebels’ Zeb Orrelios.

Daredevil: Born Again series trailer

Disney shared the trailer for Daredevil: Born Again , which isn’t yet on YouTube or other services, so we can’t link to it. Daredevil is of course the alter ego of Marvel Comics hero Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer, and Daredevil: Born Again is the upcoming Disney Plus TV series based on his adventures, following the series simply called Daredevil that aired on Netflix from 2015 to 2018. Charlie Cox is back from the Netflix show and will star as Daredevil in the series.

Ironheart Series Trailer

Dominique Thorne, who played Riri Williams/superhero Ironheart in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is getting her own Disney Plus show. Exclusive footage was revealed at D23.

Williams herself showed up and said she can’t wait for fans to see the show, which is expected to premiere with six episodes in 2025 on Disney Plus. Anthony Ramos plays Parker Robbins/The Hood, and the clip shows him seemingly on Ironheart’s side, but… maybe not?

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Disney Plus TV series based on Rick Riordan’s insanely popular book series about a teenage demigod, is getting a second season. The show stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood.

A preview aired as D23 and the second season is set to stream in 2025. The new season is based on Riordan’s 2006 book The Sea of Monsters, the second book in the series.

Elio movie

Ready for a Disney movie that isn’t a sequel? D23 announced a new Pixar film called Elio, which follows 11-year-old Elio Solis (voiced by Yonas Kibreab) who accidentally becomes the intergalactic ambassador for planet Earth when aliens beam him to their world. Zoe Saldaña voices Elio’s aunt.

Hoppers

We’re getting another Pixar original film, Hoppers, coming out in spring 2026. It’s about a young girl, Mabel (voice of Piper Curda), who swaps brains with a robotic beaver and goes undercover in the animal kingdom to unite the other animals to stop a real estate development scheme. Jon Hamm plays the villain, Mayor Jerry.

Toy Story 5

More stories from the world of Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear? I mean, for a while I thought the series would stop at a trilogy, but then Toy Story 4 came out in 2019 and was still pretty good, so okay, why not?

D23 revealed that the plot will revolve around toy fighting technology, including an army of 50 Buzz Lightyears controlled by computers. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Star Wars fans have mixed feelings about the sheer number of Star Wars series, spinoffs, and films that keep getting made, but here’s another one. A new Disney Plus series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, centers on four kids who stumble upon what they think is a lost Jedi temple, are accidentally launched into space, and find themselves surrounded by all the creatures and dangers of the Star Wars universe.

Jude Law plays a Force user named Jod Na Nawoodwho apparently helps the children. The first two episodes will be coming to Disney Plus on December 3.

Andor season 2

The critically acclaimed Star Wars: Andor series, which airs on DisneyPlus, is getting a second season in 2025, and D23 showed off clips from the making of the new season. Diego Luna is returning as the show’s namesake Cassian Andor, while Ben Mendelsohn is joining the cast as Rogue One villain Orson Krennic. The Andor series picks up five years before 2016’s Rogue One and the iconic original 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope, and will feature 12 new episodes.

Monster Jam movie starring The Rock

Monster Jam is the name of the traveling motorsports tour featuring those huge, oversized trucks that perform in stadium shows, performing stunts and driving over junked cars. Now, Monster Jam’s parent company has teamed up with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Walt Disney Studios for a live-action film.

There’s no release date or other details known yet, but let’s all imagine a Fast & Furious movie where The Rock performs the same famous car stunts, but with monster trucks.
