South Australia: Two men dead, another missing after separate water tragedies

The bodies of two skippers have been recovered from the sea, while an elderly kayaker has been missing for two days after two separate tragedies in South Australia.

Emergency services were alerted after a boat capsized off the coast of Cassini on Kangaroo Island at around 4.15pm on Wednesday.

Police launched an extensive search on land and sea, with the help of the coast guard.

Polar searched from above and found the capsized ship.

The bodies of two men were found in the ocean near the boat on Wednesday evening.

No further details about the men have yet been released.

An investigation has been launched and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Safework SA has also been notified.

Meanwhile, the search continues for a man who has not been seen or heard from since his kayak trip on Monday.

The man, in his 70s, set off along the Coorong River, southeast of the Murray Mouth in Salt Creek, a remote wilderness area.

His disappearance was reported to police on Wednesday after he stopped making regular contact.

Both PolAir and Water Operations are currently assisting with an extensive search.

Anyone who may have seen the kayaker on the Coorong in the Salt Creek area is urged to contact police.
