Six wines from £8 to pair with food from beans on toast to fish & chips
BOFFINS have discovered that drinking wine with food is the best – and safest – way to enjoy a drink, as it slows down the intake of alcohol.
Drinks expert Helena Nicklin advises to have a few good glasses of wine with everyday dishes that are not too expensive. She gives the matching wines a score of five.
Fish and chips
Codorniu Vintage Organic Cava Brut £8, reduced from £10.50, Morrisons
There’s only one combination you need here: bubbles!
Because of the savoury notes of the batter, you will need a traditional bubble, such as champagne.
If you want to go over budget, the “real” French classic will be delicious.
If you are on a budget, you cannot drink a better cava than brioche-style cava.
