A former government adviser has promised to combat the reforms of Labor and to say that they 'turn back the clock'.

Meg Powell-Chandler said that Academies have improved the lives of millions of children and the removal of their liberties will set standards in reverse way.

She played an important role in supporting the Academies program as a special advisor to Damian Hinds, who was secretary of Tory Education between 2018 and 2019.

Now she is launching a drive to save the well -being of Labor's Children and Schools Bill, who removes freedoms about curriculum, recruitment and wages and conditions of teachers.

Mrs. Powell-Chandler has just been appointed director of the New Schools Network (NSN), a charity that was once paid by the Tory government to support academies.

Nowadays it is launching a new ride to 'Champion School Freedoms that make the Bill Imperils' and' make the business to breathe new life into the Free School program, which is currently being assessed.

Academies are state schools that are free from the council control, with more freedom to innovate directly and to be responsible for the central government. Free schools are a kind of academy set up by local groups, such as church communities.

Mrs. Powell-Chandler said: 'It is a very important time for all of us who passionately believe that free schools and academies have improved the lives of millions of children.

Former government adviser Meg Powell-Chandler said that the reforms of Labor Academy 'would turn back'. Education secretary Mrs. Phillipson speaks with reporters in Westminster on January 8

'The government is right to concentrate on increasing standards in education, but the proposed legislation risks precisely the opposite and to return the clock to one of the most transforming periods of educational reform in recent history.

'The freedoms that have been granted to academies and free schools have been the basis of their success, so that they can innovate and excel.

“We know that a one -size fits fits all -anding does not work for students, why would it work for schools?”

The NSN was financed by the Tory government to help those in setting up new free schools, although this ended in 2022.

According to the bill, Academies should follow the National Curriculum, and their teachers will have to be or are busy achieving, qualified teachers status (QTS).

Critics have said that this would prevent schools from innovating in lesson planning and hiring experts in their field who are not trained teachers.

The bill would also comply with the standards of the national wage and conditions, although the ministers have clarified that there would be 'no ceiling' about what academy teachers could be paid.

David Ross, chairman of Trustees of NSN and David Ross Education Trust, said: 'I am not only as a trust leader in fearing that the current proposals will damage the future of thousands of children in our country.

“We risk ideologically dismantling the most important cross-party performance of the last two decades and take back our education system.”

There are more than 650 free schools and 10,000 academies in England.
