The brother -in -law of the former prime minister Humza Yousaf is on trial after being accused of extortion and class A drug offenses after the death of a man.

Ramsay El-Nakla, 37, did not argue yesterday through his legal team to the accusations during a hearing at High Court in Glasgow.

Co-fed Stephen Stewart, 51, Jennifer Souter, 39, and Victoria McGowan, 42, are also confronted with charges on the same indictment, including the culpable murder of 36-year-old Ryan Munro.

El-Nakia is not accused of being involved in the alleged murder.

Instead, it is claimed that El-Nakla together with the other three 'the intention to threaten' Munro brought him into a state of alarm that he would be harmed in Dundee on 9 and 10 January last year.

Prosecutors state that they have 'intimidating' the man and have 'raised a sum of money from him by threats'.

Only El-Nakla is separately accused of concern about the supply of cocaine in Dundee.

Together with Stewart and McGowan, he is confronted with a similar indictment of heroin.

Stewart, Souter and McGowan are said to have killed Mr Munro in the flat in Morgan Street on January 10.

It is claimed that the man was intimidated and threatened, placed in 'extreme' anxiety and alarm so that he escaped through a window near the building.

This would have seen him fall from a height and hit the ground.

Mr Munro's officers were so seriously injured that he died there.

Stewart, Souter and McGowan are also accused of a separate accusation of the kidnapping of Mr. Munro during the two days.

McGowan is confronted with further accusations of drugs.

Lawyers for Stewart, Souter and McGowan did not argue yesterday either.

Stewart and Souter have each submitted a special defense of accusation.

None of the four accused appeared in court yesterday. Lawyer Depute Alex Prentice KC leads the prosecution in the case.

A process has been established and planned to start at Edinburgh High Court in December 2025. It could take about 10 days.

The court heard that discussions are underway about how the important proof of a teenager will be taken.

A trial period was determined and was planned to start in December 2025. It could take about 10 days.

Lord Scott said: “The Supreme Court in Dundee cannot accommodate the process because of the number of accused people, therefore it has been determined for Edinburgh, although Dundee would have been preferred.”

A judge will be allocated for the trial at a later date.
