My businesswoman trick ensures perfect, smudge-free mascara every time
A surprising accessory that many working women already have in their bags can be the key to a beautiful mascara application.
Laura Kay shared essential tips from her over 20 years of experience in the cosmetics industry.
Kay is a former celebrity make-up artist turned permanent make-up expert based in London, England.
She teaches more than 50 students annually in a training program at the academy.
In an interview with The US Sun, she shared beauty tips for an even complexion.
MIRACULOUS METHODS
Kay says applying mascara doesn’t have to be a messy and tedious process if you use a handy tool.
“Apply mascara with a business card behind your lashes to avoid smudging your eyelids,” she said.
“Excess mascara or smudges will end up on the business card and not on your eyelids.
“Make sure the business card is clean and clean it regularly to prevent irritation or infection.”
She revealed that this trick isn’t the only unconventional trick professional makeup artists use.

“Some people swear by using lipstick as blush or eye shadow for a quick, cohesive makeup look,” she said.
“A popular, unconventional tip for applying makeup, as lipstick often has a creamy texture and vibrant pigmentation, making it versatile for use on cheeks and eyelids.”
TERRIBLE TECHNIQUES
Kay says common makeup mistakes can make you look older.
Applying too much foundation is at the top of her list because it gives a ‘cakey’ effect.
“Applying too much foundation can make your skin look plump and unnatural, like you have too much makeup on your face,” she said.
“If you don’t blend your makeup properly, especially foundation and other products like blush or bronzer, you can end up with visible lines or blotches on your skin that won’t look smooth or natural.”
Using the wrong shade of foundation can make your skin look dull or older.

Choosing the right products is just as important as how you apply them.
“Choosing a foundation that doesn’t match your skin tone can make you look older than you are or make your skin look dull instead of radiant,” the researcher said.
Kay previously shared advice on how to achieve a more youthful appearance with makeup.
She said a hydrating primer should be used to smooth and hydrate fine lines and wrinkles before applying a “lightweight, radiant” foundation.
Foundations with a matte finish and long-lasting properties can look dry on the skin and emphasize wrinkles.
After makeup, a cream blush should be applied that blends seamlessly into the skin and gives a natural finish for a youthful appearance.
