A female tourist who was stabbed to death by her Tinder boyfriend on the tropical island of Mauritius had her tongue cut out so she could not call for help.
An autopsy revealed that university lecturer Zaliya Shamigulova, 29, suffered multiple wounds to her chest.
But then it turned out that her tongue and throat had been cut off from her mutilated body, which was found naked in a shallow grave.
Arrested suspect Puryavirsingh Sundur, 29, an IT engineer from Mauritius, met the tourist through the dating app Tinder, Russian sources said.
According to police sources, he “confessed” to killing her and explained how he stabbed and mutilated the tourist.

An autopsy revealed that Shamigulova’s tongue had been cut out, which investigators believe was to prevent her from screaming for help.

According to local media, detectives are still searching for the missing body parts and her clothing.
Despite this, a funeral ceremony was held for the tragic tourist before her body was to be returned to Russia.
Detectives suspect the killer intended to dismember her body, but ultimately buried her in a makeshift grave on the island.
The suspect is said to have led police to the grave in La Marie, a residential area.
He confessed to the murder after her blood was found in his car, claiming he discovered she had cheated on him.
She was last seen on video footage getting into a blue Toyota, wearing a white and blue dress.
It was the last time she was seen alive. She was reported missing by a female traveling companion.
Her relatives in Russia received messages saying that she had decided to disappear and not to contact her anymore.
According to a report, the suspect “wanted to take the Russian woman on a tour of the island, but in a fit of jealousy and rage he pulled out a knife and brutally murdered his lover, after which he stripped her naked and buried her body.”
The late woman had recently posted that she found ‘happiness every day’ during her holiday in Mauritius.
She was a torchbearer in preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
She was a university lecturer in Chelyabinsk in the Urals.
She was scheduled to travel to Madagascar on September 1.
It is believed Ms Shamigulova, pictured aboard a fishing boat, met her alleged killer after they were introduced through the online dating app Tinder
