THEY say that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. And that certainly applies to this creative homeowner.
A woman told how she saw a rusty old birdcage in an antique shop and transformed it into a beautiful reading nook.

Carolynn, who posts below this blog @newlife4oldtreasurestold how she got inspired when she saw the big cage.
She explains in a video: “A few years ago I bought this huge rusty birdcage at a vintage market.
“I had the idea when I first saw it… a reading corner.”
She then showed a photo of the day she bought the six-foot-tall cage, with her granddaughter lying on her stomach inside it.
Carolynn then shared how she added all sorts of shabby chic items to make it cozy, from a chandelier to pillows, bookshelves and flowers.
She described the DIT project as follows: “Rusty, cracked roses and glitter, antique books And birds.”
The end result looked cozy and beautiful, and was the perfect way for a book lover to spend an afternoon.
Unfortunately, she was not allowed to keep her creation.
Carolynn added: “When I put the house up for sale, I had to let it go.
“I moved to a much smaller house and I couldn’t even fit through the side of my house to get to the backyard!
“I think a piece of my heart was involved.
“I ended up selling this through my Etsy store to someone who lived a few states away and came to pick it up.
“I got a little teary-eyed as the animal drove away in the back of their truck.”
About her love for interior design, she said: “I miss my shabby chic era. I decorated my house with rusty, crumbling, weathered stuff before it became a trend, I got it from my mother.”
However, her hard work has not gone unnoticed: her clip has collected more than 88,000 likes.
Someone wrote: “You are a legend for the Pinterest girls.”
Another added: “I’m insanely jealous, this is GORGEOUS.”
And a third commented: “Your granddaughter is going to have some wonderful childhood memories of this. This is amazing.”

Generation Z has recently rediscovered the trend of knowing your color type.
And Fabulous deputy fashion editor Abby McHale goes back to the original color consultancy to take a look at hers.
“My wardrobe looks like a rainbow has exploded in it. Name a color and I’m pretty sure I have something of that shade in it. And while I love neutrals, I’m definitely not afraid to wear bright colors.
That said, I have no idea what colors actually “suit me.” So with the color analysis filters popping up all over TikTok right now, I’m intrigued.
But this is far from a new phenomenon. The trend first exploded in the late 1970s with Colour Me Beautiful, the groundbreaking book on the subject by highly regarded colour consultant Carole Jackson.
Decades later, the Colour Me Beautiful movement is still going strong, with 220 consultants across the country. They now categorise people as light, deep, warm, cool, bright or soft.
I booked an appointment (£160 for 90 minutes) with colour consultant Angi Jones to try it out and I found it to be a great experience.
She tells me that I prefer to wear gold for jewelry, that blushing pinks, ruby reds and warmer blues are my favorite colors and that I should avoid cooler shades as they emphasize the blue undertones of my dark under-eye circles.
Having your home colored is an investment that will last for decades.
Once you know what your mistake is, you can never make the mistake again.”
