Honor Magic V3 may launch next month with support for these AI features

Huawei’s Honor sub-brand is apparently gearing up to launch three new products during its upcoming keynote scheduled for September 5 at IFA 2024 in Berlin. The brand is said to be announcing the global version of its Honor Magic V3 along with a new tablet and a new laptop. These are expected to be marketed under the Honor AI branding for connected AI features. The highlight is expected to be the foldable smartphone and the brand has decided to officially unveil some of the AI features that could be showcased during the launch of the global model.

Honor has posted a video on its official YouTube channel revealing several new AI features that are expected to be showcased during its keynote event in September. The video shows how Honor aims to provide a smarter software experience using the power of artificial intelligence (AI).

One of these is a Magic Portal tool that has now appeared on a foldable device and is therefore branded as ‘Magic Portal on Foldable’. This feature takes advantage of the available foldable main screen (which turns out to be quite large) and lets a user multitask between two apps simultaneously in floating windows.

The Honorable Mentions Feature reportedly uses Google Cloud AI and can now record and transcribe meetings in real-time. At the moment, it’s unclear how many of these tools under the Honor AI umbrella are actually powered by Google’s cloud services, but we should get more clarity on this when the company launches the handset globally.

Another feature that’s very similar to what Google did with its Pixel Fold is Face-to-Face Translation. Much like the Pixel Fold (and now the Pixel 9 Pro Fold), the app will now offer real-time translations that appear on both the interior and exterior screens.

No AI feature list would be complete without an AI image editor, and Honor has also added an AI Eraser tool to remove unnecessary objects or people from a given image. Finally, there’s also an Eye Comfort Display function to reduce the severity of myopia when using a smartphone screen for extended periods of time using defocusing technology.

While all of the above seems like a handful from a Chinese brand, it remains to be seen whether Honor AI and Google’s Gemini AI will coexist on the global model of the Honor Magic V3. We can expect to learn more about these features during the company’s keynote event on September 5.
