Jio increases prices of prepaid plans with free Netflix subscription
Reliance Jio has hiked the prices of its prepaid recharge plans that come with free Netflix subscriptions. The tariff hike follows the trend of telecom companies in India that increased the tariffs of their prepaid and postpaid plans earlier this year. Jio’s revised offers have been effective since July 3. Rivals Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Bharti Airtel had simultaneously announced higher tariffs for their prepaid and postpaid plans. The revised Jio prepaid plans with free Netflix subscriptions have a validity of 84 days.
Reliance Jio Prepaid Recharge Plans With Netflix Subscription
Reliance Jio prepaid plans with free Netflix subscriptions are now available available for Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,799. A report The Hindu noted that the plans were initially listed at Rs. 1,099 and Rs. 1,499 respectively. The Rs. 1,299 prepaid pack includes the Netflix Mobile subscription, while the pricier Rs. 1,799 option comes with the Netflix Basic subscription.
This suggests that customers on Jio’s Rs. 1,299 prepaid plan will only be able to access Netflix on a smartphone or tablet and through one device at a time. The highest quality video streaming they can get on the app with this plan is 480p.
The Netflix Basic plan lets users access the video streaming platform on any device like a phone, tablet, smart TV, laptop, etc. This Rs. 1,799 plan also supports videos in quality up to 720p.
Both Jio prepaid plans with Netflix subscriptions are valid for 84 days. This means that customers will get three months of free Netflix subscription on every recharge. They also offer users unlimited talk time and unlimited 5G connectivity along with 100 SMS per day.
However, it is important to note that the unlimited 5G connectivity included in these plans is subject to 5G availability in the user’s area. The Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,799 Jio prepaid plans claim to support 2GB and 3GB of daily high-speed data respectively. After this limit, unlimited data can be accessed at 64Kbps.
