My patio was covered in algae, I cleaned it in minutes with an Amazon purchase
Keeping your patio clean doesn’t have to be a chore. And you certainly don’t have to work up a sweat scrubbing it clean.
That’s because a cleaning enthusiast shares a trick with her that will help you get rid of green algae in minutes.
“If you hate using a pressure washer, this stuff is an absolute game changer,” Helen said on TikTok.
She showed her patio tiles, which had clearly seen better days and were covered in a thick layer of green algae.
But instead of scrubbing to remove the grime or spending money on a pressure washer, Helen used an inexpensive product she swears by.
Monty Miracle Fast Patio Cleaner costs just £29 for a five litre container on Amazon and will have your patio looking as good as new again.
According to the cleaning expert, all you need to do is leave the product on the spot and let it do its work for 10 minutes.
You can watch the product do the hard work and after the exposure time you can wash it off with water.
“It’s unbelievable how clean the terrace was left,” Helen enthused.
And if your patio is due for a good cleaning now that summer is just around the corner, you can also take advantage of the bargain promotion.
“On container days it also works on deck,” Helen replied to a comment on the clip.
She continues: “It’s so easy to use that it’s perfect for patios where you don’t want to use a harsh jet cleaner.”

How to repair broken patio tiles
The paving specialists at Simply Paving told Fabulous how to repair broken patio tiles without too much hassle.
The experts advised: “If you have a loose paving slab, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to lift it straight up by hand. Instead, you’ll likely need a hammer and chisel to pry the paving loose from your patio.
To remove loose tiles without damaging your tiles, carefully chisel away the mortar around the tile with the chisel and rubber mallet until the tile is completely loose.
“Then slide the shovel into the gap created by the mortar and pry the tile loose from the patio.
“As you lift the shovel, place a short piece of wood under the shovel. This will act as a lever, making it easier to do the job and protecting the slab underneath.
“When the paving starts to give, place the cylindrical wood underneath and roll the slab out of the patio.”
There are certain things you can do to limit the growth of moss in the first place – something to keep in mind for next years when it is too late now.
Fiona adds: “Don’t leave water standing on the surface.
Remove standing water as quickly as possible with a leaf blower or broom.
“This is especially important in places that are in the shade. Always make sure that water can drain off the terrace properly.
“Also remove new moss quickly. As soon as you see green growth, remove it.
“If you leave moss, it will grow quickly and take root in the joints, making it harder to remove.”
Firstly, you need to invest in an outdoor broom, which you can buy for as little as £4, such as this from B&M.
Fiona says: “Always keep the patio clean. Don’t let leaves, dirt or debris build up on the patio.
“Clean the patio surface weekly with a leaf blower or broom.”
Also keep the terrace as dry as possible.
42p simple solution
If the moss has taken over and you can no longer keep it under control, don’t despair.
You don’t have to spend a fortune, as bleach can be an effective solution. For example, this two-litre bottle from Asda Essentials costs just 42p.
Fiona says: “First, use a stiff broom to sweep as much moss as possible from the surface of the patio.
“On smaller surfaces or in tight corners, you may need a smaller scrub brush.”
If needed, you can buy a brush at most supermarkets or hardware stores. For example, this soft brush from Wilko costs only 65p.
Fiona adds: “Blow or sweep any dirt off the surface and discard.
“Mix a solution of one part bleach and five parts water in a bucket.
Pour this solution over the surface of the terrace and stir it with a stiff broom.
“If necessary, use a stiff brush to scrub the solution into the grout.
“Be careful not to disturb the joint sand.
“Then rinse the entire surface with clean water and let the terrace dry.”#
