Chuck Todd quits NBC News ahead of his contract ‘lapsing’

For a long time the press moderator Chuck Todd has announced that he will leave NBC News before his contract is said to have been set to expire.

“There is never a perfect time to leave a place that has been a professional home for so long, but I am quite enthusiastic about a few new projects,” wrote Todd in a memo that was sent to colleagues on Friday.

“So I am grateful for the chance to start a leap on my next chapter during this important moment,” he continued.

'The media have a lot of work to do the confidence of viewers/listeners/readers and I am convinced that the best place to start is from below.

'In the core I am an entrepreneur – I worked professionally my first 15 years for the company that started the political newsletter Rage that dominates today.

“And this is a mature moment.”

The announcement comes days after NBC News had fired around 40 employees and CNN dismissed nearly 200 employees. The dismissed at 30 rock amounted to approximately 3 percent of the workforce of the Network News Division.

Todd, 52, took over as a host from Meet the Press in 2014, but decreased in 2023. He was replaced by Kristen Welker, and insiders told Variety that his contract would end somewhere after the elections and that he had since been in conversation with other stations.
