For a long time the press moderator Chuck Todd has announced that he will leave NBC News before his contract is said to have been set to expire.
“There is never a perfect time to leave a place that has been a professional home for so long, but I am quite enthusiastic about a few new projects,” wrote Todd in a memo that was sent to colleagues on Friday.
“So I am grateful for the chance to start a leap on my next chapter during this important moment,” he continued.
'The media have a lot of work to do the confidence of viewers/listeners/readers and I am convinced that the best place to start is from below.
'In the core I am an entrepreneur – I worked professionally my first 15 years for the company that started the political newsletter Rage that dominates today.
“And this is a mature moment.”
The announcement comes days after NBC News had fired around 40 employees and CNN dismissed nearly 200 employees. The dismissed at 30 rock amounted to approximately 3 percent of the workforce of the Network News Division.
Todd, 52, took over as a host from Meet the Press in 2014, but decreased in 2023. He was replaced by Kristen Welker, and insiders told Variety that his contract would end somewhere after the elections and that he had since been in conversation with other stations.

'The only way to resolve this information eco system is by stopping nagging about the different ways in which the social media companies manipulate things and instead roll our collective sleeves and start with locally,' wrote todd on his turn.
He added how he considers the rights of his podcast, the Chuck Toddcast, conservative. He told his former colleagues that the show would come with [him]. '
“Stay informed for an announcement about the new house soon,” he wrote, while others in the air, such as Jim Acosta, flee their respective stations for independent companies.
Todd said he would continue to share [his] Reporting and unique perspective on handling politics with data and history, “so that the American public may better understand” where we are and where we go. “
“We are grateful for Chuck's many contributions to our political reporting during his almost two decades of career at NBC News and for his deep dedication to meet the press and the permanent inheritance,” a statement from the station added.
“We wish him the very best in his next efforts.”
The series of statements confirmed the circulating reports of Todd's then rumors exit, at a time when cable news is in the middle of a pronounced decline.
In the meantime, figures such as Acosta, Megyn Kelly and Don Lemon have moved to Independent, Digital Ventures, with the former CNN Newsroom anchor that is about 123,000 subscribers protected for his Substack since his on-Air report earlier this week.

The former CNN employee who broke the story of Acosta's then anticipated exit, Oliver Darcy, also enjoyed success with a digital format – with his hugely successful status newsletter.
Such a success shows a shifting landscape in terms of news – a CNN CEO Mark Thompson appears to be apparently wind before he relieves his dismissals earlier this month.
He was also broadcast to shift the activities of CNN to more digital-based, with a streaming service and is planning to circulate more short, vertical news videos.
At the time, Thompson told the staff at the wrestling station that the future is digital – and that giving people the news they want, if they want it is the nature of the beast. He also warned that the certainty of the future success of CNN was still 'unclear'.
Darcy's newsletter further reported that the CEO recently demanded a ton-down in reporting surrounding President Donald Trump, as did Spinco CEO Mark Lazarus, the new boss of the media congregation that supervises MSNBC.
On Thursday, the managers of ComCast have a conference call after earning to discuss the upcoming spin-off of cable, with which MSNBC and CNBC networks are split from NBC News in terms of whom it performs.
