Samsung Galaxy S24 FE could get a charging downgrade
It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be hitting the market soon, as shortly after the device was approved by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), it has now also been found in another certification database.
This time, GizmoChina has discovered that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE has been certified by TUV Rheinland, revealing that the device supports 25W wired charging and 9W wireless charging.
Now, 25W is the same charging speed as the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, so it’s a shame that that apparently hasn’t been upgraded. But it’s also no surprise considering even the standard Samsung Galaxy S24 only charges at 25W.
What is a surprise is the 9W wireless charging, because both the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and Samsung Galaxy S24 support 15W wireless charging. So this would be a downgrade.
Wireless or reverse wireless?
Now, it’s possible that the 9W speed is actually intended for reverse wireless charging (allowing you to use the phone to charge other devices), especially since the FCC certification stated so. But 9W reverse wireless charging would make even less sense, since that would be faster than the 4.5W that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra offers. So that seems unlikely.
Of the two options, it seems more likely to us that wireless charging speeds will decrease than that wireless charging speeds will increase. Still, both options seem odd.
Of course, it is also possible that this detail is not correct. That is also strange, since certification bodies such as TUV Rheinland usually work with official information.
However, we may find out what the phone’s actual charging speed is soon, as leaks suggest the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE could hit the market in October.
