I’ve spent a lot of money on Sephora skincare, my swap is better for my skin and wallet
Removing frown lines is even better if it can be done in a frugal way.
One woman said goodbye to her high beauty spending in favor of some money- and skin-saving bargains.
Reddit user Jewel1044 made it clear that she did not want to participate in the exorbitant prices for skin care products.
“I used to spend a ton of money on skin care products from Sephora,” she said.
Today she sticks to her more ‘affordable’ and ‘effective’ methods.
“My skin looks so much better and so does my wallet,” she said.
She realized she could get tretinoin and azelaic acid, both of which are available at the pharmacy and covered by her insurance.
Tretinoin is classified as a retinoid and is typically available in a gel or cream, according to Web MD.
Azelaic acid, also a powerful ingredient in skin care products, is found in some grains such as rye, wheat and barley.
It is naturally produced by Malassezia furfur, a yeast found on healthy skin.
All she knew was that they were going to bring about a true revolution.
“They have helped brighten my skin tone and texture and get rid of acne,” she said.
And those weren’t the only changes that gave her skin a more luxurious feel for less money.
“I love European and Asian beauty because of their jumbo sizes. Everything on my list is $25 and under,” she said.
“I switched to La Roche Posay and Asian skincare. Much more affordable and just as good!” she said.
She also replaced Sephora’s brands with Kose Speedy Mo Cleansing Oil, Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm and La Roche-Posay Cream Cleanser.
If you want to try out some budget-friendly buys for yourself, Kose Speedy Cleansing Oil is available on Amazon for $9.99.

She was also very enthusiastic about the results she achieved with La Roche Cicaplast, Avene Zinc Cream, Hadalabo Gokujyun Moisturizer and Vaseline.
And that wasn’t all she had in her arsenal of skin-protecting products, as she swore by the mini version of Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Toner that helped with texture and breakouts “because of that time of the month.”
Now that she’s improved her beauty routine and is spending less money, she doesn’t want to break the bank again.
She also mentioned that she occasionally sees some of her favorite finds on sale.
Her entire skin care routine cost less than $150.
Others also shared their budget beauty buys.
“I also add Pond’s cold cream to this. I finally listened to my grandma and now use it every time I wear makeup,” one user said.
“Yes. I switched from my daily lotion to a vanishing cream (vanicream) and my daily cleanser/night mask to a cold cream (albolene) and I have never been happier,” said another.
“Both come in a large pot for $10-15,” they added.
