Sam Docherty has stunned his fans with another amazing piece of news, announcing that he and his wife Natalie are expecting their second child.

Just hours after confirming he would feature in this year’s finals for Carlton, the veteran defender and his wife announced they are welcoming a second child into their young family.

Natalie showed off her baby bump while their daughter held up a photo of the ultrasound, posting the following on Instagram: “We can’t wait to meet you, little one.”

Fans and friends sent us an outpouring of support following the incredible announcement.

“Oh my god!!!! Can your day get any better,” one fan said. “Congrats, I’m so happy.”

Another added: ‘What a day of amazing news!! I’m so happy for you both.’

A third fan said: ‘It’s the week of great DOC news!’

Earlier on Tuesday, Docherty was named by Carlton to play in this weekend’s final against Brisbane, completing an incredible comeback after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament six months ago.

It is the third time the 30-year-old has required knee reconstruction, making his recovery after 183 days all the more remarkable.

Docherty has also twice overcome testicular cancer and his perseverance and determination have made him a hero among football fans across Australia.

“He’s just a great story. He’s put in a lot of work (and) he’s been doing it for a good month, six weeks, of training,” Blues captain Patrick Cripps said.

‘He raised his hand, but the coaches have to choose a side that they think is best.

‘Personally I love playing with him, he’s been through a lot, we’ve been through a lot together and he’s a guy you trust on a football pitch.

“If he is elected, you know he will perform.”
