Marks and Spencer gives underwear line a spicy makeover with sexy briefs and bras
IT is the trusted store where women have been buying their underwear for generations.
But Marks & Spencer has given its lingerie line a daring makeover for this year’s autumn/winter collection, which hits stores and online tomorrow.
The new collection features designs that wouldn’t look out of place in boutique chain Agent Provocateur, with cut-out briefs, sheer bodysuits and chain bras available from £8.
Other highlights from the new collection include the £199 burnished gold leather trousers.
The revamp follows demand for the store’s lingerie lines, which saw sales grow 9.4 per cent to £13.1 billion last year.
One in two British women now owns an M&S bra. Last year alone, 20 million bras and 60 million pairs of knickers were sold, making the store the UK’s largest lingerie retailer.
And this year the company launched its successful 200-way bra, which can be worn under almost any type of neckline, from £24.
The styles appeal to both Generation Z and the loyal customer base.
The move to bold designs follows the appointment of former Topshop fashion director Maddie Evans, head of womenswear at M&S since 2021.
She said, “It’s not about age, it’s about attitude.”
Here we show you some of the new designs.
