ChatGPT could add 8 new voices with more realistic animal sounds to give you a hassle-free virtual pet experience
ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode has only been available for a short while, but OpenAI could add eight additional voices to this incredible technology that will allow you to communicate naturally with artificial intelligence.
These new ChatGPT voices offer a range of new styles that can be added to the four preset voices currently available: Juniper, Ember, Cove, and Breeze. Advanced voice mode gives you the most human-like ChatGPT experience possible, similar to Google’s Gemini Live on the new Pixel 9 smartphones.
Originally reported by Test Catalogeight new voices were found in recent reverse engineering reports. The voices, named Fathom, Glimmer, Harp, Maple, Orbit, Rainbow, Reef, Ridge and Vale, bring new possibilities to express sounds more naturally, such as dog barking.
While these voices are tied to ChatGPT’s text-to-speech, their impressive nature makes them the perfect match to expand Advanced Voice Mode’s options. At the moment, these new voices are not accessible yet, but you can hear what they sound like thanks to Tibor Blaho on X.

OpenAI’s hardware shift?
OpenAI could be working on more than just ChatGPT voting, however, as a report suggests the company could enter the hardware market. Taiwanese website United Daily News claims that OpenAI has been in talks with TSMC, the chipmaker known for working with Apple on top-tier iPhones. The source of the news has an unknown track record for chipset scoops, so this is pure speculation at this point.
The rumor implies that OpenAI is looking to produce its own custom AI chipset, similar to Apple’s Neural Engines and other Neural Processing Units. The custom chip is said to be based on TSMC’s A16 Angstrom process, which Apple could use in the future, potentially hinting at future collaborations between the companies. Apple will integrate ChatGPT into iPhones as part of the next-generation Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence. iPhone users will be able to send prompts to OpenAI’s servers if they so choose. This will allow the iPhone to not only take advantage of Apple Intelligence on the device, but also the incredible capabilities of ChatGPT.
