Four people died after a vehicle crashed against a building in Colchester this morning.
Officers were called to report that a vehicle had hit the building in Magdalen Street, Colchester, on Saturday around 4.40 am, said the Essex police.
Emergency services were attended, but four people died on the spot. The ages and genera of the victims have not yet been announced.
Their families have been informed and will be supported by specialized officers, said the armed forces.
Magdalen Street is expected to stay closed all Saturday while an investigation takes place.
Temporary assistant -head commissioner Stuart Hooper said: 'My thoughts, and those of everyone at the Essex police, are with the friends and families of the four people who died this morning.
