WE all dream of escaping the gloomy British weather and staying in a more tropical landscape.

But one mum has revealed she’s finally doing it and is moving her family to sunny Barbados.

Georgia Barry, who lives in London, is in the process of moving to Barbados with her one-year-old son and partner.

She said she never planned to get pregnant at 24, but that she loved motherhood and wanted to experience family life as best she could, and that wasn’t in London.

She revealed on social media: “A lot of people think it’s crazy that we’re packing up and moving from London to Barbados with our one-year-old.”

“London was great when we went out drinking, socialising and meeting lots of people. I feel like there is a big pub culture in London.

“Uh, when you don’t have that lifestyle anymore, it can get a little lonely.”

Georgia admitted she would rather spend the evening with her partner Charlie and their little one, walking along a sunny beach.

In addition, the mother said that it is much cheaper to rent a home in Barbados than in London.

“Our biggest expense in London is rent,” she explains.

Luckily, Charlie’s grandparents had a house in Barbados where they could live for free.

She also loved the country’s friendly culture and close-knit community, something rarely found in a metropolis like London.

I got tired of working 14 hours a day to make ends meet so I moved to Spain with my family and now we save £1,600 every month on rent and bills

Finally, she said that she had to wear a sweater in the UK in mid-August, which was reason enough to want to leave.

The clip she posted on her TikTok account @georgia.barry quickly went viral with over 213,000 views and 6,900 likes.

People were quick to respond to the comments and share their thoughts on the family’s move.

Someone wrote: “Very similar reasons why I moved from London to Spain! I’m having my first baby in October and I definitely feel like it’s the right choice.”

Another noted, “You never know in life until you try. If you don’t succeed, you can always come back.”

“What an amazing opportunity to give your daughter,” wrote a third.

Moving from the United Kingdom to Barbados

Barbados is a popular holiday destination, but moving there permanently can be more difficult.

You can live in Barbados with a British passport and stay for six months without a visa.

If you wish to stay longer and move permanently, you must apply for a visa.

Examples include: a Barbados Welcome Stamp, an immigrant visa, a work permit or a special entry permit for retirees.

If you want to move there, you will also need to take out private health insurance, as there is no national health care system in the country.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “Amazing girl, good luck with your move.”

“As if this is a question, take me and my baby to the suuuuuuupernnnn,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “I would never say you’re crazy. I would do it tomorrow if I could.”
