Hundreds of commuters are facing long rush hour delays after a boy was found injured on train tracks in Sydney’s west.

The 13-year-old boy was found by police on the railway tracks near Homebush station at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene and the boy was treated by paramedics for his head injuries before being taken to hospital.

There were delays on the T1 North Shore and Western line and bus services were also affected.

The disruption also affected train services on the T2 Inner West and Leppington lines, as well as the T3 Bankstown, T8 Airport and T9 Northern lines.

Passengers were also warned that there may be delays to trains to the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Newcastle.

Within an hour, services were restored, but a police operation was initiated.

A New South Wales Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the police operation has ended.

Commuters have been warned that the incident could cause disruption to Sydney’s train network.

Sydney Trains advised passengers to plan their journeys in advance due to the long delays, it said in an update on X.

“Please allow additional travel time due to a person standing close to the track between Flemington and Homebush,” they wrote.

‘Trains near the affected area may be stopped between stations for longer than normal’.

‘Check transport apps, information screens and listen to announcements’.

Some services towards Lidcombe on the T3 Bankstown line were cancelled.
