I’ve never cut my hair – one bottle of shampoo only lasts four washes
A REAL-TIME Rapunzel is causing a stir online after revealing she’s never had her hair cut.
Mandy Bowen is very proud of her long locks, but she does use quite a bit of shampoo.
A pastor’s 27-year-old wife took the internet by storm when she revealed she had never cut her hair in her life.
In a time when regular haircuts and salon visits are the norm, Mandy proudly shows off her waist-length locks, crediting her upbringing for her decision.
Her locks now fall to the small of her back, prompting fans on social media to compare her to Disney character Rapunzel — something she calls the “best compliment ever.”
“I’m 27 years old and I’ve never cut my hair,” she said.
“I never had my ends trimmed. Not even as a child, that’s how I was raised.
“I love my hair and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.”
However, social media users protested, saying that even though she has never cut it, her hair should be even longer.
According to the housewife who lives in Smithville, Mississippi, just because she doesn’t cut her own hair doesn’t mean it’s not cut naturally.
She said that once her hair reaches its “terminal hair length,” the ends will naturally split and fall off.
“Everyone’s hair grows differently. Hormones play a big part in it too,” she told TikTok followers.
It may also sustain some heat damage.
“I curl my hair a lot and it often burns the ends,” she added.
Mandy also shared that she lost some hair after the birth of each of her three children.
Surprisingly, she doesn’t spend much money on shampoo.
She explained that she has trained her mane so that she only needs to wash it once every seven to nine days.
But even though she doesn’t wash that often, when she does, she still needs quite a bit of product.
With one bottle of shampoo she can wash her hair about four times.
“It doesn’t really get greasy, so that helps a lot,” she said.
While she says she doesn’t have a “groundbreaking method or products” to keep her hair healthy, she does use conditioner with every wash and a hydrating anti-frizz serum.
Mandy likes that she has kept up the tradition her parents started.
“I’ve kept it into my adult life and I think it’s so cool that I have this hair, the same hair I had when I was a kid,” she said.
However, she did admit that there is a downside to the styling.
“My arms are getting so tired!” she said.
