A man from Florida who reportedly stolen the wallet of a woman, got more than he negotiated when he opened the bag and realized that there was a kitten in it.
Fort Myers Police Officers arrested Benjamin Cummings, 34, asked on Thursday and accused him of theft without a weapon.
Cummings is accused of stealing an unnamed female wallet close to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. BLVD and Palm Avenue in the city of West Florida.
“Under the items in the bag was a kitten about a month old,” said the police of Fort Myers in a release.
The information unit of the police collaborated with detectives to detect Cummings with the help of security images.
They followed the possessions of the victims into an abandoned vehicle nearby. However, a quick search for the car showed that the little cat was no longer inside.
“While investigating the items, the stolen kitten came under the vehicle and approached officers,” the department said.
'The victim confirmed that the kitten that had stolen from her during the robbery together with the items in the vehicle. The kitten was safely returned to the owner. '

Cummings is accused of one census of theft without firearm or weapon. The police did not say how or where he was arrested.
He is said to have a long criminal past dating from 2005, with a history of theft attempts and at least 14 different mugshots with the local Sheriff's office, according to CBS Affiliate Wink News.
Cummings is currently being held in the prison of Lee County on a cash or deposit of $ 10,000, according to the prison reports. He will appear in court on Monday.
