iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus to get more RAM than previous models: report

The iPhone 16 series launched on Monday, September 9 during Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event. The latest line-up, which includes iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, introduces new features across both the hardware and software fronts. As always, the RAM details of the iPhone units were not disclosed by the Cupertino company. However, a new report suggests that all models in the iPhone 16 series will come with more RAM than last year’s iPhone 15 models.

All iPhone 16 models have 8GB of RAM

Apple doesn’t normally reveal the iPhone’s RAM configuration. MacRumors, in collaboration with @iSWUpdates, states that each model in the iPhone 16 series will have 8GB of RAM. This information was reportedly discovered in the latest version of Apple’s Xcode developer tools. This indicates that the vanilla iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will come with an extra 2GB of RAM compared to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Previous Xcode files showed 6GB of RAM inside the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Along with the A18 chip, the extra RAM could benefit system performance in the new iPhone 16 models. The RAM bump could make more room for advanced Apple Intelligence features. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, only include 8GB of RAM like their predecessors.

The iPhone 16 series comes with iOS 18 and a new Camera Control button. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are powered by the A18 Pro chip.

Apple’s iPhone 16 price in India starts at Rs. 79,900 for the 128GB storage variant. The larger iPhone 16 Plus model starts at Rs. 89,900 and the iPhone 16 Pro price starts at Rs. 1,19,900 for the base 128GB variant. Finally, the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at Rs. 1,44,900 for the 256GB model.
