‘Haath jodkar maafi maang rahe the’: RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav rules out future alliance with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday questioned the credibility of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s promises, saying his promises have “no value” and he has “lost the trust” of the people.
Tejashwi recounted an incident in which Kumar, in the presence of his MLAs, apologised with folded hands for joining the BJP-led NDA. Tejashwi, however, firmly ruled out any future alliance between the RJD and Nitish’s JDU.
“Hamare ghar jab aaye to haath jodkar maafi maang rahe the. He had asked for forgiveness from all the MLAs, they were all witnesses. How many times has he apologised in the House with folded hands, saying he had made a mistake and now he will not join the BJP?” he said.
Tejashwi pointed out that Nitish’s inconsistency and tendency to switch political allegiances have made his assurances unreliable. He said the RJD had given the Bihar CM several chances in the past, but Kumar revealed his true colours every time.
“His oath has no value. No one trusts him because he can change his mind at any moment. Twice we felt sorry for him and gave him life and both times he showed his true colors. This time it has no meaning,” Tejashwi added.
Criticising the law and order situation in Bihar under the Nitish Kumar-led government, Tejashwi said criminals operate without fear of the police and incidents of murder, bank robberies and kidnappings have become commonplace. He accused the Chief Minister of not being interested in fighting crime and living under the false assumption that all is well in the state.
Nitish’s political journey has been marked by a series of shifting alliances over the past two decades. In 2015, Kumar’s JDU formed an alliance with Tejashwi’s RJD, which emerged victorious in the Bihar elections. However, the partnership was short-lived as he quit the RJD in 2017 to join the BJP.
In 2022, Nitish again switched parties and renewed his alliance with the RJD, but in January he returned to the NDA.
