JAMMU: Over 2,350 permissions related to election campaigning have been given to political parties and contesting candidates since the election process for the Jammu and Kashmir state assembly elections began last month, an official release said on Tuesday. J&K Chief Electoral Officer Pandurang K Pole has appealed to the candidates and political parties contesting the state assembly elections to use the ‘Suvidha’ application and platform, which has been designed to streamline the process of applying for various permissions required during election campaigning.
The portal serves as an all-in-one solution that enables candidates and political parties to apply for and obtain permits in an efficient and easy manner.
With a user-friendly interface and robust features, the app simplifies the process and ensures that all necessary permissions are obtained on time, thereby smoothening campaign operations, the statement said.
“A total of 3,178 applications for permission were received for the general elections to the legislative assembly in J&K. Of these, 2,350 applications, which were disposed of in all respects, were accepted by the competent authorities,” the statement from the office of the chief electoral officer said.
336 requests were rejected for failure to comply with the required formalities, while 241 requests are still pending with the various competent authorities to issue the permits.
“There are still 158 applications pending at various levels due to lack of NOCs etc. while 93 applications have been cancelled on the basis of insufficient/incomplete formalities submitted by the applicants despite ample time being given to them to submit the same,” the statement said.
