Upgrade your pizza party with this AI-powered grill that smokes your pizza to perfection
Frozen pizza rarely offers the depth of flavor that comes from a fresh pizza cooked to perfection, preferably wood-fired. But sometimes that’s just not possible due to time or budget constraints. What if an AI-powered pellet grill could change that?
I am in the process of moving and so every night is filled with packing and lugging stuff into my house. In an effort to find quick meals that are a little more than a simple sandwich, sometimes a frozen pizza is the best option for a busy family. In a stroke of genius or delayed realization, I decided to fire up my pellet grill and see what Vera could do.
Wood-smoked pizza is the winner
For this cook I used one of the best pellet grills on the market, the Brisk The Origin 580. At first glance, there isn’t much to look at when you look at the grill. It has good build quality, 580 square inches of usable cooking surface, and a digital control panel with a 22-pound pellet hopper. What sets this grill apart is the software.
That’s right, I said that software is what sets this grill apart. But can you use the Brisk It Origin 580 to cook without all that fancy software? It does a fantastic job. I figured instead of trial and error to get the right temperature and cook time to perfectly melt my frozen pizza, I’d let the Vera AI system help me out.
The idea behind Vera is to have a source that knows the Brisk It Origin 580 inside and out to get recipes and instructions on how to cook different meals on the pellet grill. When I asked Vera AI to help me cook a grilled frozen pizza, as you can see in the screenshot above, I was given a simple set of instructions on how to bake the pizza.
I followed all the instructions except for using a pizza stone because I didn’t have one on hand since I had already packed it up. So I grabbed my Marketside Ultimate Meat Pizza from Walmart and placed it directly on the rack. Just a note: these pizzas are not delivered frozen, but I had put mine in the freezer after purchase.
I will never bake pizza in the oven again
The end result was a perfectly cooked pizza with a crispy crust that was soft and chewy in the middle of the dough. The toppings were melted nicely and with some crunch on the edges of the cheese near the crust. Of course, these results could all be achieved with a traditional oven. The added smoky flavor set this pizza far above what that cooking method produced.
I considered putting the pizza on the grill early in the cooking process, which smokes a lot more as the grill comes up to temperature. I decided against it for a couple reasons. First, I wanted to see how it tasted with Vera’s directions, and second, I wanted to take it a bit easier since I was really busy. If I had put the pizza on early, I would have had to remove it halfway through when the smoke cleared.
I don’t know why it took me so long to figure out that I could cook a frozen pizza on a pellet grill, but I did it and I’m disappointed in myself. Not only did I love the pizza, but more importantly, my family loved it too. So the next time you’re craving a quick meal that packs a little more flavor than a simple sandwich or oven-baked pizza, fire up your grill.
