How to watch and stream the 2024 Azerbaijan GP
F1 streaming in the UK
Sky Sports and Now TV
We’ve reached the final eight races of the Formula 1 season as the drivers take to the streets of Baku for the 2024 Azerbaijan GP.
Sunday’s race at the challenging 6km circuit is a golden opportunity for Red Bull to end a streak of six Grands Prix without a win, with McLaren’s Lando Norris having cut Max Verstappen’s once unassailable lead in the drivers’ championship to 62 points.
This weekend’s race could also mark a major breakthrough for McLaren. They currently trail Red Bull by just eight points, but they could lead the constructors’ title race for the first time in a decade with a positive result on Sunday.
The main race takes place Sunday, September 15 at 2:55 PM AZT local time, that is 11:55am BST in the United Kingdom, 06:55 AM ET and 03:55 AM PT in the US and Canada, and 20:55 hrs AEST in Australia. It will be held at the Baku City Circuit around the streets of the Azerbaijan capital. The race will be broadcast in the US on ESPN and ESPN Plus.
The entire race weekend, including practice sessions and qualifying, will be broadcast in the US on ESPN’s family of TV and streaming networks. Those wanting to follow along will need access to the ABC and ESPN news channels on cable or live TV streaming services, or the ESPN Plus streaming service. We’ve put together everything you need to know to stream today’s race and all the other F1 races this season.
Livestream the Azerbaijan GP in the US
Whether you have cable or not, ESPN’s standalone streaming service is great for casual Formula 1 fans and a must-have accessory for fanatics. It costs $11 a month (or $110 a year), and ESPN currently has a deal with F1 to show 18 of the 23 Grands Prix races this year. The catch is that ESPN Plus doesn’t always air the free practice or qualifying sessions, but it does air most Sprint races and the Sprint Shootout.
If you’re an F1 fan who also wants your Disney fix, then the Disney trio bundle (Hulu, Disney Plus, and ESPN Plus) might be an even better buy. It’s great for fans who like to watch the parts of the race weekend that would normally be shown on EPSN2 or ESPNews, as well as catch up on the latest Marvel movies or Star Wars series.
If you’re a diehard fan of motorsports and Formula One racing, ESPN Plus may not be for you, as it rarely covers F2, F3, or Porsche Supercar racing. Therefore, ESPN Plus is ideal for casual fans who like to watch the occasional race, or superfans who don’t want or need all the bells and whistles of F1 TV but want to expand their coverage options.

How to watch F1 online from anywhere with a VPN
If you find yourself unable to watch Formula 1 action locally, you may need another way to watch the races. In that case, a VPN may come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to prevent your ISP from throttling your speed on race day by encrypting your traffic. It’s also a good idea if you’re traveling and connected to a Wi-Fi network and want to add an extra layer of privacy to your devices and login details.
A VPN allows you to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet, or laptop to access the game. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice ExpressVPN, make it very easy to do this.
It’s legal to use a VPN to watch or stream sports in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK, and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming from. You’ll want to make sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service can terminate the account of anyone it sees as circumventing properly enforced blackout restrictions.

ExpressVPN is currently our top VPN pick for those looking for a reliable and secure VPN, and it works across a variety of devices. It normally costs $13 per month, but if you sign up for a $100 annual plan, you’ll get three months free, saving you 49%. That’s the equivalent of $6.67 per month with code SPECIAL OFFERthat should be applied automatically.
Please note that ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Quick Tips for Streaming the Races Using a VPN
- Depending on four variables (your internet service provider, browser, video streaming provider, and VPN), your experience and success with streaming F1 races can vary.
- If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try the ‘Search by city or country’ option.
- If you’re having issues with gameplay after enabling your VPN and setting it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log in to your streaming service subscription account and make sure that the address registered to the account is one in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address stored with your account. Second, some smart TVs, like Roku, don’t have VPN apps that you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll need to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that every device on the Wi-Fi network will now appear in the correct viewing location.
- All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main sites for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after installing a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to the email address stored for your smart TV. This is where a VPN on your router also helps, as both devices appear to be in the correct location.
- And remember that browsers can often reveal your location, despite using a VPN. So make sure you use a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We usually recommend Brave.
