‘Haath Badlega Halaat’: Congress releases manifesto for upcoming elections in J&K | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Elections for the state of Jammu and Kashmirwhich promised a range of welfare initiatives for farmers, women and youth.
The manifesto, entitled “Haath Badlega Halaat“, was jointly released by AICC spokesperson Pawan Khera and PCC president Tariq Hameed Karra at the party office in Srinagar.
The manifesto offers 100% insurance against natural disasters for all crops and a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 72 per kilogram for apples.
“We will provide an additional financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per year to landless, tenant and land-owning agricultural households. We will also arrange 99-year leases for landless farmers cultivating government land,” Pawan Khera said.
The party also promises to set up a fund of Rs 2,500 crore specifically earmarked for district-level irrigation projects. The aim is to provide 100 percent irrigation facilities to farmers across Jammu and Kashmir.
The grand old party also mentioned an unemployment allowance of up to Rs 3,500 per month for a year to qualified persons. Besides, they said they will fill up one lakh vacant government posts by publishing a vacancy calendar within 30 days of assuming power.
“If you look at the Congress’s record in the last 10 years, be it Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, wherever we have formed governments, we have implemented our assurances. People have faith in us. We have laid our entire agenda before the public in our manifesto. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have made up their minds. They have decided that if the BJP has to be defeated, only the INDIA Alliance parties should be voted for,” Khera said during the release of the manifesto.
