Qantas flight from Townsville to Brisbane diverted due to possible problem on board
A Qantas plane flying from Townsville to Brisbane made an emergency landing in Rockhampton due to a problem on board, forcing the aircraft to descend rapidly.
According to data from FlightAware, QF1871 had to descend more than 20,000 feet in several minutes before landing safely in Rockhampton at 7:16am.
The flight was scheduled to land in Brisbane at 9am.
A Qantas spokeswoman said passengers would be put on flights to Brisbane this morning.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
