Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has been confirmed to launch on August 14 in China. The handset will debut as a successor to the Mix Fold 2 and Mi Mix Fold, as well as Xiaomi’s third foldable phone. The Chinese smartphone brand has also released official images, which show off the complete design of the Mix Fold 3. It can be seen sporting a Leica-branded quad-camera system on the back. It also appears to have slightly curved corners. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will directly compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Honor Magic V Fold, and Pixel Fold.
Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi, has announced that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will be unveiled in China on August 14. The launch event will begin at 7:00 PM local time (4:30 PM IST) and will include Lei Jun’s annual keynote speech to share details about the company’s activities. The marketing poster carries a tagline “defining a new standard for the second half of the folding screen” (translated from Chinese).
The brand has also posted first-look renders on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, which show the design of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 from all angles, both in the folded and unfolded state. The renders show the handset in black and cream shades with slightly curved corners and a sleek design.
Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 3 appears to feature a relatively large square camera module compared to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. It can be seen sporting a Leica-branded quad-camera system on the back alongside the LED flash. The predecessor, on the other hand, has a triple camera unit on the back.
According to previous reports, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will feature an 8.02-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) internal display and a 6.5-inch cover panel. Both displays could offer up to 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage. It is also expected to house a 4,800mAh battery with 50W or 67W wired fast charging support.
The announcement of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 launch comes weeks after Samsung unveiled two foldable devices — the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This is expected to lead to competition in the foldable market when the new Xiaomi foldable goes on sale in markets outside China.
