‘This blood disease is on the rise’: UP man arrested for faking death on busy road | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Tension held the Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh when a man’s quest for online fame took an extreme turn. A video is doing the rounds on social mediawhere a 23-year-old man, identified as Mukesh Kumar, was found lying on a busy road in Kasganj, pretending to be dead.
The video shows his ‘lifeless’ body covered in a white sheet, cotton stuffed into his nostrils and a flower garland hanging around his neck, creating a disturbingly realistic scene.
But as the video ended, Kumar abruptly came to life and burst out laughing. The stunned bystanders realized they had been tricked into witnessing an elaborate prank and immediately alerted the authorities.
As a result, local police arrested Kumar for creating public disorder and mischief. The video, shared on X, was captioned: ”In Kasganj district of #UttarPradesh, a young man faked his death by lying down in the middle of a busy intersection. Police have arrested the ‘coil star‘Mukesh Kumar.”
According to Shri Rajesh Bharti, Additional Superintendent of Police, the incident took place at the Raj Cold Storage area in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. In a video statement, he said, ”The man has made a video by sleeping on the road and causing shock through his video. We have taken cognizance of this fact and have arrested the man, identified as Mukesh Kumar and necessary action will follow.”
The stunt video has drawn widespread criticism from social media users, who have condemned Kumar for his insensitive and attention-seeking behaviour. His reckless attempt to go viral has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the dangers of social media obsession.
One user commented: “Reelmakers are willing to go to any lengths,” while another noted: “I never thought people would go to such lengths for views.” A third user wrote: “The world is full of weird and crazy people, they should get an education to make good reels.” Yet another added: “This reel disease is on the rise.”
