Liam Payne's destroyed girlfriend has spoken for the first time about the tragic last days of the One Direction star – and her heartache to leave him alone before his fatal fall of a hotel balcony in Argentina.
Kate Cassidy, 25, has rejected cruel accusations that she left Liam before his death and revealed that she had only returned to their house in Florida to take care of their rescue dog, Nala.
“I had a responsibility,” she told the sun. “We had our dog and I never thought such a thing would happen.”
Kate, an influencer of social media, met Liam in 2022 while serving in South Carolina.
The singer was on a road trip with friends when he was fascinated by her.
He delayed his flight home and the couple spent two days together in a hotel, starting with what she describes as a 'fairy tale romanticism'.
From that moment, she said, she believed they were soul mates.
The destroyed girlfriend called the singer the most modest and charming people she had ever met and insisted that she was not the fault of her partner's death.

Kate later left her university plans and became a full -time influencer, a career that fully supported Liam.
Now with more than 2.5 million followers, she has since returned to New Jersey after leaving the house they shared in Florida.
Kate was at home when she received the call and told her Liam had died.
She said it felt like a 'blackout moment', who struggled in the beginning to believe the news. She even tried to call his phone – and it still went.
The maker of the content admitted that she felt blessed that she did not receive the harrowing news via social media.
Instead, she had been to the comfort of their house with their beloved dog before one of Liam's friends called her.
She later realized that her last text had been completely common to Liam: “I can't wait until you get home and see the house.” She had spent time decorating Halloween, excited to show him.
Three days after his death, an employee she had hired to repair the messages in the decorations, asking if Liam had kept the Halloween surprise fun.
That was the moment, she said, when it finally dropped that he never got home.
Liam had openly spoken about his struggles in mental health care and former fighting with addiction.
