The government of Laos has refused expert help of Australia in its research into the death of six tourists, including two Melbourne -Teeners.

Best friends Bianca Jones and Holly Bowles, both at the age of 19, visited the tourist city of Vieng last November when they suffered suspected methanol poisoning.

The Aussies belonged to dozens of tourists who stayed in the Nana -Backpackers Hostel when they fell sick after drinking in the bar of the location.

The couple, the 28-year-old British lawyer Simone White, a nameless American husband and two Danish women, aged 19 and 20, died of suspected poisoning.

Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles told the Federal Parliament on Thursday that the authorities in Laos rejected the offer of help from the Australian Federal Police in her investigation into the incident.

“What happened to Holly and Bianca hit the heart of the nation and we are all in the embrace of their families, and it is unimaginable to think about what they are going through in the loss of their beautiful daughters,” said Mr. Marles.

'The Australian federal police have made the authorities in Laos an offer to offer their help with the investigation and there are many capacities that the Australian federal police can bring in terms of this investigation.

'Unfortunately, I have to report to the house that the Laos authorities have not yet taken over that invitation from the Australian federal police.

He promised that the Australian authorities would not drop the case.

“I would like to ensure the families of Bianca and Holly that we will stay in contact with the authorities of Laos and that the offer of help is being offered consistently and raised with the authorities of the Laos,” Mr Marles added.

It comes after the shattered Aussie parents have so far beat the Laos research in an interview of 60 minutes.

“They had a drink. And yes, there is no way to determine whether there is methanol in a drink.

“So it's, it's very much a silent murderer.”

Mr. Jones added: “For them not to reach out, that's just not good enough.”

Foreign Minister Penny Wong has spoken to her counterpart in Laos and 'made it clear' that the Australian government expects someone to be held responsible for the six dead.

“We will continue to put Laos under pressure to strive for this investigation, because in this investigation we will continue to offer the help of the Australian government through the Australian Federal Police,” said Mr. Marles.

'The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have been in contact with the families of Bianca and Holly and will continue to do so.

“All the information we have that we want to share with them.”
