During its Geeked Week presentation on Thursday, Netflix revealed an upcoming game based on Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon film series, called Blood Line: A Rebel Moon GameThe game is set to release exclusively on Netflix Games sometime in 2025, and you can Register now to join the beta.
Super Evil Megacorp, the team behind the award-winning Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, developed this cooperative action game that you can play with friends or alone. Netflix said at a press conference that Super Evil Megacorp worked with Snyder and his production company, The Stone Quarry, to develop the game.
“Megacorp was given full access to reference material and lore information for the larger Rebel Moon universe,” said Matthew Denomme, a Netflix Games producer, during the press conference. “They were also given the blessing to develop an original story for the game that, while it can stand alone and doesn’t require you to have seen the films, still fits into the canon.”
The game takes place on the planet Krypt, where you start a small rebellion against the ruthless Motherworld. As you progress through the game, you bring more of the planet into the fight.
The game is set in the Rebel Moon universe and is based on the lore of the film series, but many of the characters in the game are only mentioned in passing — if at all — in the film series. For fans of the films, there is a playable Jimmy — a sentient machine from the films — in the game.
There are four different classes of characters for you and your friends to play as.
First, there’s the Bannerguard, your tank class that can take and deal a lot of damage. Then there’s the Forsaken, your assassin class, who are agile and can debuff enemies. Then there’s the Kindred, your sniper class that takes out enemies from a distance and sets traps. Finally, there’s the Evoker, your support class that can heal and deal elemental damage.
The game also has RPG elements, so you can upgrade your character’s skills and weapons as you complete more missions and gain additional resources. You’ll unlock various artifacts and gain power as you progress. There are also cosmetic items that you can find and apply to your character to make your character uniquely yours.
The development team said at the press conference that more updates and upgrades will be added to the game in the future. Since the game is included as part of a Netflix subscription, you won’t have to pay extra for these updates.
No release date has been confirmed yet, but Netflix reports that subscribers will be able to play this game in 2025.
