Former proud boys President Enrique Tarrio says he is planning to go for a public office.

Tarrio was sentenced in September 2023 to serve 22 years in prison after he was convicted of incitement conspiracy for his role in the attack of January 6 – although he was not present in the Capitol that day.

His sentence was demolished last month after President Donald Trump had signed an executive order that all prisoners of January 6 grace and those who convicted the day for crimes that the day convicted.

And only two weeks later, Tarrio was one of the guests of honor during a Reagan Tribute event in Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida on Tuesday.

“It has been a great two weeks,” Tarrio told Newsmax -Gastheer Greg Kelly in a Thursday interview.

“Two weeks ago I was in prison and last night I was in Mar-A-Lago in the President's house,” he added.

Then an example of his potential upcoming Run for the office – admit that he was not sure that he was exactly the position for which he intended to run.

“The last time I was on, I told you that I would take some time, and I really started to think about what I was going to do,” Tarrio said. “And I think my future is in politics.”

“I think I will take a serious look at the office at a certain moment in 2026 or 2028, and I believe that there is a path for that because it is my passion,” he concluded.

Tarrio, who was chairman of the proud boys at the time of the Capitol attack, said he would not “support” the riot. The extreme right-wing activist, however, stated that he did not 'sympathize' with legislators who were terrified in their offices that day.

At least 37 members of the proud boys were arrested, sued or charged for alleged roles in the Capitol riot in January 2022. By that time, Tarrio was no longer a leader of the group.

He served as chairman from 2018 to 2021.

The Select Committee for the attack of 6 January subdivided Tarrio to witnesses in November 2021 and in February 2022 he gave a statement to the researchers of the committee and two members.

Roger Stone was also honored during the Reagan Tribute event. The former Trump consultant was sentenced to 40 months in prison, but just a few days before he was planned to report to prison in July 2020, Trump converted his sentence and enlarged him in December 2020
