A unique specimen Caitlin Clark WNBA Draft Autograph Card sold for $84,000 at auction on Thursday night, breaking the record for the most expensive women’s basketball card. The previous record was set in January of this year when a signed 2022 Bowman University Caitlin Clark Superfractor (a 1/1 parallel) sold for $78,000.
The card in this latest sale is the 1/1 “Blue Viper” variant of Clark’s 2024 Panini Instant WNBA Draft card, which was printed on demand and sold for a limited time following the draft in April. It was Clark’s first card to feature her wearing an Indiana Fever jersey. On draft night, the Blue Viper card was sold for $10,000 at a Dutch auction.

Only one women’s sports card has ever sold for more than the $84,000 this Clark card brought in: a 2003 NetPro Serena Williams signed patch card (featuring a piece of one of her tennis outfits worn during matches), which sold for $266,400 in 2022.

Clark collectibles are in high demand as she enters a record-breaking rookie season in the WNBA. The latest release of her signature Wilson basketballs sold out in under an hour. Since Panini has yet to release any WNBA sets for this season, collectors have remained focused on Clark’s college cards and print-on-demand cards, like those from draft night. The first of those 2024 WNBA sets will be released on October 16, when Panini releases WNBA Origins, featuring Clark’s rookie cards.
