I am a mother and I love holidays without my children – I refuse to be boring
A mother believes more women should go on vacation and leave their children at home.
Jaelyn Cox, 30, loves traveling to sunny destinations and finds it important to take good care of herself.
Although she loves spoiling four-year-old Valentina and 18-month-old Valencia, she finds it less stressful when she can spend some time alone.
The Glasgow dancer said: “Going on holiday with your kids is so stressful.
“You also need time for yourself and a short holiday of two or three days is very good for mothers.
“I can’t get a babysitter for a week, so I’m just going on vacation for three days and my mom is happy to look after them.
“I feel like a lot of people don’t see motherhood as separate from their private lives.
“Just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you have to be boring and sit around cleaning the house.”
Jaelyn added: “Go out, get a drink, get your makeup and hair done, enjoy your kid-free night and make the most of it.
“Too many mothers think they are good mothers if they are with their children 24/7, don’t have to work and are a stay-at-home mom.
“I’m sorry to say this, but it’s not true, because your child needs a break from you too.
“A happy mother is a good mother. With my first child I never went out and if I had an evening without children I never had anyone look after her.
“I didn’t start her in daycare until she was two years old. When I stopped working, it started to affect me mentally.
“Once I went back to work, put my child in daycare and had a routine, I felt happier. My daughter also enjoyed going to daycare and having friends.
“Mothers deserve a break too, so just because you become a mother doesn’t mean you have to stop living.”
