One person was killed and the other was seriously injured on Thursday afternoon at a shooting involved by the police in the center of San Antonio, Texas.

Authorities said that police officers patrolled in the center of the city center when they noticed a vehicle that had been stolen and the driver started following just before 4.30 pm, Kens 5 reports.

The vehicle was stolen around noon and the officers asked for hidden support to follow the vehicle, which soon left the city center, according to KSAT.

When it returned, Responding officers tried to use Spike strips to get the vehicle to a halt, but the driver plowed through.

Officers then tried to surround the vehicle, but the driver was back on the car, beating patrol vehicles and drove to officers who got out of their car.

For fear of their safety, the police officers opened fire, said assistant chef Robert Blanton.

In the meantime, the car continued with the Handelstraat and hit a building before he caught fire near the intersection of Trade and Noord -Flores.

One suspect died on the spot, while the other was transported to a local hospital in “very critical condition,” Blanton said.
