In her viral videoTikTok user Vicky Gilchrist (@vickygilchrist_) described the tip as a “kitchen trick that changed my life.”

She showed her audience an open box with Tesco Honey Ringswhich cost 79p.

Despite the low price, the TikToker still wanted to prevent food waste.

Instead of simply folding the cardboard flaps over the slot that was meant to close the flaps again, she took a different approach.

Vicky folded the flaps in the box and turned it over to show it to her audience.

She then pinched both sides of the opening closed, so that it was closed at the top.

Finally, she secured the flaps by folding one into the pre-cut slot.

Vicky held up the cereal box to show how it now remained closed.

While the box is completely closed, you should also seal the plastic bag containing the cereal tightly.

This way you can be sure that your breakfast is always as crispy as the day you opened it.

How to Save Money on Groceries

Experts in saving money at HSBC UK have revealed their top tips for saving money on your groceries.

1. Set a budget
Creating a budget will help you stretch your budget. Start by calculating how much you spent on food over the past three months, and then set aside a certain amount for food each month you get paid.

2. Plan your meals
Make a list of your main meals for the coming week, including the ingredients you need, and stick to it. Don’t be tempted by deals on things you don’t need. If you have some leftover food from the week before, try to see what you can do with it first.

3. Think about when and where you shop
It is best to shop on a full stomach so that you are not tempted. Shopping less often can help you think about what you are buying and can help you stay within your budget.

4. Go online
Online shopping is a great and easy way to manage your budget. It can also help you keep track of your spending while also preventing impulse purchases.

“In the Middle Ages they would have impaled you and burned you,” said another follower.

“Wow, the one with cornflakes is genius!!” commented a third person.

“I learn more on TikTok than in school,” another viewer joked.

“Wow, [I] “I learned something, thank you, but normally I use clothespins,” one commenter said.

“Noice, I had never thought of doing the box version but it makes perfect sense,” wrote another follower.
