The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on Friday that reopening conversations with the US would not be 'smart' after President Donald Trump threatened to 'destroy' the nation, while he also said he would 'like' a deal close 'with Iran.

On Tuesday, Trump signed an executive order with a 'maximum pressure' campaign against Iran.

During that signing, Trump warned if Iran killed him – as civil servants threatened to do after ordering the murder of Qasem -leader Qasem Soleimani – there would be retribution.

“If they did, they would be erased,” Trump replied. “I left instructions. If they do it, they will be erased, there is nothing left. '

During the same back and forth with reporters, Trump said that he was 'torn' over signing the order because he would like to close a deal with Iran, to prevent the nation in the Middle East from getting a nuclear weapon.

In his comments on Friday, Khamenei pointed to Trump as the reason that a nuclear deal with the US no longer existed.

“The responsible person suspended it,” said Khamenei according to Reuters.

He told Iranians that they should not do it again. “Negotiating with America is neither smart, wise or honorable,” he said in comments on the occasion of the anniversary of Iran's revolution from 1979. “It will not solve any of our problems. The reason? Experience!'

The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on Friday that reopening conversations with the US would not be 'smart' after President Donald Trump threatened to 'destroy' the nation, while he also said that he is' love for a one Deal to close 'with Iran

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he was open to talk to Iranian leaders about a deal for the country not to get a nuclear weapon, although he pulled the US from Iran's nuclear deal during his first term.

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he was open to talk to Iranian leaders about a deal for the country not to get a nuclear weapon, although he pulled the US from Iran's nuclear deal during his first term.

Khamenei also laughed Trump's plan for the US to take control of Gaza torn by war, something that the President drove on Tuesday during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the White House.

“Americans change the world map on paper,” said Khamenei. “Of course it is only on paper because it has no reality.”

During Trump's first term, the Republican president withdrew from the joint comprehensive plan of action from the Obama era, popularly known as Iran's nuclear deal.

Trump then supplied sanctions on the Iran's economy and wriggled it.

In January 2020 he gave the order to kill Soleimani outside Baghdad airport.

Since then, Trump and other high -ranking US government officials have been under the murder threat.

During his first few weeks in office, Trump has deleted security data from some of these officials – in particular former national security adviser John Bolton and former State Secretary Mike Pompeo.

Bolton became a critic after he had worked for Trump and wrote a tell-all book that came out in the months prior to the 2020 elections, who lost the president of President Joe Biden.

Bolton remained under the protection of the secret service because of the Iranian threat.

Pompeo chose not to run against Trump in the Republican Primary 2024 – and even supported him on the campaign track, but his actions were not loyal enough for some Trump bondmen, including Roger Stone.

Republican Senator Tom Cotton said he had seen the intelligence about Iran's threat and feared that other Americans could be injured if Iranians decided to attack the officials who have been affected in the Soleimani strike.

Last week the press secretary Karoline Leavitt of the White House was asked whether Trump could reconsider his decision on the former security detail of the officials.

“The president was asked and answered this yesterday, and he was determined in his decision, despite some comments you had referred,” Leavitt said. “And he has made it very clear that he does not believe that American taxpayers should finance security data for people who have served in the government for the rest of their lives.”

“And there is nothing that stops these people you called to obtain private security,” she added.
