Google Photos may be developing a new feature that can generate recap memories using Gemini, the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) model, according to a report. The feature, spotted during an APK teardown of the app for the Android platform, can create memories with narration, providing proper context instead of simply compiling slideshows of images based on various information. The app, which serves as the default media manager on most Android devices, has already received several updates this month, including features such as an updated trimming tool, an auto-enhance option and a new speed tool.

Other Google Photos features

Google recently announced several new features for its Photos app, some of which are powered by AI. One of the most notable additions is an Ask Photos feature that will allow users to search for specific images by sending a conversational question to Gemini. However, this will reportedly only be available through Google Labs, meaning it’s experimental.

Users can also type descriptive searches into the search bar, using the descriptive search feature. New options have also been added to speed up/slow down videos, improve brightness, contrast and overall exposure in images, and precisely crop parts of a video to a specific frame.
