Nathan Cleary’s Penrith teammate responds to shocking UK Super League switch rumour after Mary Fowler bomb threat

Nathan Cleary’s team-mate Mitch Kenny has responded to the shocking rumour that rocked the NRL this week.

According to News Corp, Cleary is keen to leave Penrith and move to the UK Super League, where he can be closer to his England-based girlfriend Mary Fowler.

Fowler, who plays as a striker for the Matildas, plays for club Manchester City and the couple have been in a long-distance relationship since their romance was first revealed by Daily Mail Australia last November.

Penrith bosses claim that Cleary has not expressed a desire to leave the club and that a move to Britain seems an unlikely possibility. Kenny also addressed this when addressing the speculation on NRL360 on Wednesday night.

When asked if he had any insight into the speculation, he joked, “Yeah, three years [at] Warrington.

‘I didn’t notice it until late, I didn’t know it was going around and that’s why I missed the boat.’

Warrington is coached by NRL legend and South Sydney Rabbitohs great Sam Burgess.

A partnership between Burgess and Cleary would certainly get tongues wagging in football circles.

The latest rumor emerged after Cleary’s Panthers teammate Brian To’o said during a brazen post-game interview earlier this month that the two are now “engaged.”

Fox Sports asked To’o why the Panthers fans cheered so loudly after the Panthers’ 18-12 victory over the Titans.

Cleary, who is recovering from an injury, was in attendance and presenter Yvonne Sampson wondered if the superstar halfback had angered the crowd.

To’o joked that fans were cheering on Cleary and her girlfriend Fowler, who are now “engaged.”

“They’re just chilling on the sidelines, everyone’s going crazy. They’re actually there for Nathan and Mary, so congratulations, I think they’re engaged.

‘Congratulations.’
