Dashcam footage shows how the windscreens were pelted with balls of feces as it rained all around.

Unsuspecting pedestrians were also splashed from head to toe with human waste as they strolled along the avenue.

One driver reportedly complained: ‘I’m drenched in poop, my car is splattered yellow. It’s destroyed.’

The blast was so powerful that an excavator was overturned at the site of the roadworks where the eruption occurred.

Local authorities confirmed that no one was injured by the explosion.
