A woman died and a second with serious injuries was taken to the hospital after a freak lightning strike in their backyard in the outdoor west of Sydney.
Emergency crews were called to the old Razorback RD in Cawdor, around 5.30 pm on Saturday, where they found the deceased woman who was in her forty years.
She was tragically pierced by wooden grenade when lightning provided a tree near where she had been.
A second woman in the neighborhood had been on her phone when the lighting also hit her – her finger partially amputated and her jaw broke.
The NSW police confirmed the deadly.
“A second woman, also in her 40s, was treated by NSW ambulance paramedics and brought to the Liverpool Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable state,” a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

NSW Ambulance said that the injuries of the second woman were considerable.
'Paramedics have transported a woman in the forty to the Liverpool hospital. She had several injuries, including hand and facial injuries and she was in a serious state when she arrived in the hospital, “said a spokesperson.
The regions of the Hunter, Illawarra and Central Tablelands received a serious thunderstorm -warning around 3.10 pm through the Bureau of Meteorology.
The police have set up a crime scene at home and investigate the circumstances around the tragedy.
A report will be drawn up for the coroner.
