Angelina Jolie is dropping legal action against the FBI over claims Brad Pitt abused her on a private jet

Angelina Jolie has ended her two-year legal battle against the Justice Department and FBI over documents relating to abuse allegations against ex-Brad Pitt.

Jolie, 49, had filed an anonymous lawsuit as “Jane Doe” with the FBI, which investigated an alleged altercation between the duo on a private jet in 2016.

She was seeking documents from the FBI about their investigation into the allegations and filed a Freedom of Information Act request in 2021.

Pitt, 60, was accused of pouring red wine and beer on his ex and one of the couple’s children on a private plane – claims he denies.

The allegations were investigated by the FBI, but no charges were filed.

Court documents obtained by In touch show ‘Jane Doe’ withdrew her lawsuit and informed the court of her decision on September 25.

Both parties pay their own legal costs.

The FBI and the LA County Department of Children and Family Services had launched an investigation into the alleged incident.

But in November 2016, an FBI spokesperson stated that no charges would be filed against Pitt.

Details of the alleged incident first emerged in August 2022, when a freedom of information lawsuit became public.

Documents show Pitt allegedly strangled one of their children and punched another in the face. Jolie had also accused the Fight Club star of grabbing her by the head.

The pair began a romance after starring together in the 2005 film Mr And Mrs Smith.

They married in August 2014 at their home in the French countryside, but their legal union lasted just 25 months.

Amid the collapse of their marriage, Pitt and Jolie also became embroiled in a rancorous custody battle over their six children, four of whom are now adults.

They had three biological children — Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16 — and also adopted Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19.

In the meantime, there has also been a battle over the couple’s French vineyard, Chateau Miraval. Jolie sold her 50 percent stake in the Provencal winery in 2023 – a move Pitt said was illegal.

Earlier this year, the Oscar winner claimed Pitt tried to get her to sign an $8.5 million non-disclosure agreement to enforce “her silence” about her abuse allegations against him.

Her legal team insisted that when she sold her half of the Chateau Miraval, she “did not act with malice and intent to harm Pitt in response to a custody ruling.”

The documents alleged, “Instead, it was Pitt who refused to purchase her stake unless he received his recently expanded non-disclosure agreement, enforceable with an $8.5 million hold specifically intended to force her to keep quiet about his abuse and cover-ups.”

Her lawyers added: “While Pitt advances an essentially outdated domestic violence privacy argument to protect his abuse, his argument is not the law, at least not in this century, and he cites no authority that would give him such an argument. unfounded protection. In any case, he waived all privacy protections when he sued Jolie.”

Jolie’s team has previously argued that Pitt should turn over his personal communications as part of the discovery in the winery case.

Pitt has pushed back against the “broad” and “intrusive” demand, with his lawyers claiming Jolie wanted access to information “on sensitive issues such as the therapy he voluntarily underwent” after the plane trip.

However, he insisted he was willing to hand over “sufficient documents to prove everything that happened during the flight.”
