Devastated ex-wife of vicious animal rapist reveals moment she learned of her husband’s utterly despicable crimes – and the sickening request he made from behind bars

The ex-wife of a disgraced crocodile expert who raped and tortured dozens of dogs has broken her silence about her partner’s sickening crimes.
British zoologist Adam Robert Corden Britton, 53, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in Australia in August after pleading guilty to 63 charges including bestiality, animal cruelty and possession of child abuse material.
Britton, who worked on programs for the BBC and even welcomed Sir David Attenborough to his home, was arrested in April 2022 after police raided the property he shared with his wife and fellow biologist Erin in suburban Darwin .
He had filmed himself raping, torturing and killing as many as 42 dogs in the eighteen months prior to his arrest. He sickeningly posted images online for others to view.
Erin was away from home on business when Britton was arrested and first learned what he had done when she received a call from his lawyer.
“When she told me about the bestiality (charge) … my brain was in denial,” she told 60 Minutes.
‘It was so shocking and I felt sick, I couldn’t talk.’
Britton was given a non-parole period of six years, backdated to his arrest in April 2022, and had contacted his wife from behind bars in the run-up to his sentencing.

Shockingly, Britton wrote to Erin and asked her to send him books on dog domestication, breed history and behavior.
She said the “disturbing” request left her “confused” given the charges he had recently pleaded guilty to.
“He writes about this as if he can sort of continue his fantasies in his head, and that really makes me angry,” she said.
Erin has since divorced Britton – they hadn’t slept in the same room or been in a relationship for years – but still can’t fathom the extent of his sickening actions.
“I still can’t understand how someone could be so depraved and so evil,” she said.
“He just ruined my whole life.”
Police understand Britton escalated the depravity of his actions while Erin was away from home for work.
“The question I ask myself every day is, ‘Why didn’t I know? What did I miss?'” she said.
“I’m scratching my head, trying to look, trying to replay events from the last few years to see if there’s any details or anything, but there’s nothing.”
Britton was calculated in his offending, having purchased the dogs from online marketplace Gumtree under the guise of giving them a loving home.
Erin was on a business trip when police raided their home on the outskirts of Darwin in August 2022, leading to his arrest and guilty pleas to bestiality, animal cruelty and possession of child abuse material.
Britton was calculated in his offending, having purchased the dogs from online marketplace Gumtree under the guise of giving them a loving home.
He also never showed his face in the extensive videos and photos and used the usernames ‘Monster’ and ‘Cerberus’ – known in Greek mythology as the three-headed hound of hell.
“He’s a psychopath,” Erin said.
‘He has no sense of what is right or wrong, I feel like I have lost a huge part of my life and I feel like I have been completely cheated.
‘I’m angry and upset and there’s nothing I could have done, it’s very upsetting.’
The distraught ex-wife has instead used Britton’s horrific actions as motivation to ‘fight harder’ for animal rights.
‘I have quite a feeling of energy, of anger. “I’m going to do something with my life, and that’s fight for wildlife, fight for animals,” she said.
“(This) just doesn’t represent who I am and I know I will fight harder with every effort I make.
“If there is so much darkness in the world, then there must be light, and I believe we must fight for the good things.”
Daily Mail Australia previously revealed details from a 42-page document by NT Chief Justice Michael Grant about Britton’s privileged childhood, which was marred by his depraved sexual fantasies – such as sneaking into paddocks at the age of 10 to cuddle horses and do up their hair to eat.
Britton told court-appointed psychologists that he was chronically depressed before he began making home videos of himself raping, torturing and killing dogs at age 49.

He also falsely claimed similar perverts online, where he posted on Telegram threatening to expose him if he didn’t create the content they requested.
Britton also tried to tell psychologists that he had exaggerated his transgressions for the benefit of his online friends.
But the judge rejected those arguments. He said there was no evidence that Britton was depressed; he didn’t tell anyone about it, he didn’t write it down or seek medical help.
The judge also said there was no evidence that Britton was being blackmailed by Telegram users.
He said this was evident when he described his torture videos in detail to his online friends, saying things like, “I just like hurting dogs.”
The sentencing remarks also outlined Britton’s lifelong struggle with socio-sexual disorder, paraphelia and zoosadism.
Britton was never attracted to people and struggled to have good relationships with women when he was a university student in Hong Kong and Britain. He had two female partners, but they were not sexual relationships.
After graduating, the judge said he had a “brief” sexual relationship with a woman who worked in the pet industry.
Britton also gave the court a brief, handwritten apology, describing his struggle with paraphelia, for which he felt too ashamed to seek help.

The apology read: ‘I take full responsibility for the degrading crimes I committed against dogs. I deeply regret the pain and trauma I have caused to innocent animals, and consequently to the family, friends and community members I have affected.
“I let you all down, and I’m truly sorry.
“I now recognize that I spent much of my life battling a rare paraphilic condition, and that shame and fear kept me from seeking the proper help I needed.”
Britton said he was determined to seek long-term treatment to prove he was better than his heinous crimes and to “find a path to redemption.”
“Please give my family the space they deserve to heal. They were in no way aware of it or involved in it in any way,” he added.
Britton will never be allowed to own a pet again.
